Composition and Properties

• Glycol-based: DOT 3 brake fluid is typically composed of glycol ethers, which make it compatible with the materials in most brake systems.
• Boiling Point:
  • Dry Boiling Point: Minimum of 401°F (205°C). This is the boiling point when the fluid is new and contains no water.
  • Wet Boiling Point: Minimum of 284°F (140°C). This is the boiling point when the fluid has absorbed about 3.7% water by volume, which is common over time in real-world conditions.
• Viscosity: DOT 3 brake fluid has a relatively low viscosity, which ensures good performance at low temperatures.
